Jenie Gao | Artist, writer, Jen-of-all-trades

Jenie is an artist, writer, and lean consultant. She sees her work as a teaching tool, a way to challenge conventional wisdom and invite others to do the same. Her artistic roots lie in the history of printmaking and she is known for her bold woodcuts and allegorical storytelling style. Her work across industries, from education to nonprofit to lean manufacturing, has solidified her belief in and passion for different disciplines working together to become less wasteful, more effective, and more ethical. She believes that the partnership of creativity and logic is vital for envisioning possibilities beyond what’s familiar to us. Jenie has completed art residencies in Argentina and Chile and has had her artwork collected, exhibited, and published internationally. She continues to work collaboratively across the worlds of fine arts, business, and nonprofit and advocates for the role of the arts in the building of stronger, more sustainable communities.

Mandy Basich Kron | Senior Art Coordinator, UW Health

Mandy Basich Kron is Senior Art Coordinator for the UW Health Art Program. She is curator of the permanent art collection which hangs throughout the UW Hospital and UW Health facilities. Mandy also manages a long-standing art exhibit program in the hospital, installing over 60 exhibits annually.

Mandy graduated from UW–Madison in 2008 with a BS in Art and BA in Harp Performance. She has worked as an artist and musician with various organizations; notably, as Display Artist for Urban Outfitters, Set Designer/Builder/Decorator for the Waukesha Civic Theater, instructor for the UW–Madison Saturday Enrichment Program, and substitute harpist for groups such as the Madison Symphony and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.
